Brailsford & Dunlavey selected as District’s Owner’s Representative for Capital One Arena redevelopment

Washington, DC, June 12, 2025— District-based Brailsford & Dunlavey (B&D) was selected to serve as the Owner’s Representative on behalf of the District for the redevelopment of Capital One Arena for Fiscal Year 2025, to oversee the initial phases of the renovation project.

The District and Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) reached a landmark public-private partnership to transform Capital One Arena and revitalize Gallery Place-Chinatown in Downtown DC. Under this agreement, the District committed $515 million toward the project, with work scheduled to span from FY25 to FY27. The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development’s (DMPED) selection of B&D as Owner’s Representative ensures dedicated oversight during the project’s initiation and early construction phases.

Brailsford & Dunlavey, founded 31 years ago by Paul Brailsford and Chris Dunlavey and run the firm as Co-CEOs, brings deep expertise in program management and advisory services. The firm has led the delivery of over $10 billion in sports facility development across the country, including signature local projects such as Nationals Park and the Entertainment & Sports Arena.
